The World Cup Rant

So, when I woke up on Sunday morning, I went out to the living room and saw my roommate watching the England game. He was so into it and would barely blink. I figured I would sit down to see what the fuss was about. I was instantly bored. I would galnce out the window, look to the side, pick up a magazine, put down the magazine, try to talk to him, etc. I just could not get into it. I really did try but it didn't catch my attention. It's not just soccer. I cannot sit through an entire basketball, football, baseball, or any game. I do enjoy playing basketball, tennis, and swimming. I just can't watch it. I have had girlfriends more into sports than I am. I think somewhere along the way, I lost my male sport gene. In fact, I think I was born without it. It's not just me. I have a few totally straight friends that don't have the gene either. Do I care though? No not really. I have other activities to fill up my time. Does it make me less of a man? No. Liking sports is just miniscule of what it takes to be a man. I think it barely makes the Top 100. So don't worry my sports gene deficient (SGD) friends, you are not alone. While we may be in the minority, we must stand together!
