MADONNA'S "JUMP"
SONG A+
The fourth single off of her excellent album Confessions on a Dancefloor is probably the best one. It is instantly catchy and very danceable. You can just imagine yourself dancing to this song in the clubs. It may sound like a frothy pop song, but the lyrics have a much more deeper meaning if you listen and just focus on the words. Madonna shows she is truly the Queen of Pop.
BEYONCE'S "DEJA VU"
SONG B
VIDEO C+
The first single off her new album, B-Day, is a slight disappointment. It has a decent beat and ok lyrics but it is dragged down by yet another appearance by Jay-Z. It seems to much like Crazy in Love 2. And you know what they say about sequels. The video makes things even worse. She is clearly trying wayyy to hard.
THE KILLERS' "WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG"
SONG B+
To be honest, I was expecting something very much like "Somebody Told Me" the classic first single off their last album. I was initially disappointed after hearing this song, off their upcoming new album Sam's Town, but it has quickly grown on me. The Killers show some artistic growth in this song. They are trying to be taken seriously as artists and not just a group singing about boyfriends that are girlfriends. This will be the song to do it.
