New Music Reviews

Robbie Williams' "Rudebox"

SONG: B

The first single off Robbie's upcoming new album, 1974, is a tad bit disappointing, considering it came on the heels of the superb singles off last year's Intensive Care. With that said, it does offer something different and gives an homage to the music of the 1980s. The lyrics are typical Robbie and the chorus is great. If Robbie is taking a path to more "dance" music, then he made the right first step. Makes me want to do the rudebox (if you hear the song, you'll know what I mean.)

Fergie's "London Bridge"

SONG: B
VIDEO: B

OK, am I stupid but what exactly is a London bridge? (Listen to the song). Aside from that stupid question, the first solo song from the Black Eyed Peas' Fergie is pretty decent. Its fun with silly lyrics. While it isn't great compared to songs from other solo ladies (Christina, Madonna), its good and listenable. The accompanying video is good and fits the song well.

Mario Vasquez's "Gallery"

SONG: B+
Video: B

Remember the guy that quit American Idol's Top 12 in 2005? Well, looks like he has done pretty good for himself. His first single is great, far better than Taylor, Katherine, or Carrie. Its a very sweet, romantic song and I can't stop listening to it. The video is a little bit bland and generic but doesn't take anything away from the song. I think he made the right decision to quit when he did.
