New Music Reviews

Today I have two albums to review, new ones from Christina Aguilera and, gulp, Paris Hilton, and songs from Danity Kane and Nelly Furtado.

CHRISTINA AGUILERA
BACK TO BASICS

A

Christina finally does something right and releases a good, no excellent, album. The album is exceptional from start to finish. I cannot skip any song and have to listen to it from start to finish. The standouts include: "Ain't No Other Man," "Slow Down Baby," "Oh Mother," "Candyman," "I Got Trouble." She sounds great and better than ever. This is miles ahead of her last album Stripped and light years ahead of her first album, Christina Aguilera. My one complaint is the lack of uptempo, "dance" tracks but the whole album makes up for it.

PARIS HILTON
PARIS

B+

It is strange that Paris Hilton is featured in a "music" review right below none other than Christina Aguilera. However, I know many were surprised by "Stars Are Blind" and I was too. I was even more suprised to hear her full length album. It a very "pop" album with enough dance tracks to go around. Her voice is pretty weak but the beats and lyrics make up for it. The standouts are "Stars Are Blind," "Jealousy," "Heartbeat," "Turn It Up," "Nothing In This World." Give it a try, you might be surprised.

DANITY KANE
"SHOWSTOPPER"
Video and Song: B

This is the first single from Diddy's little "Making the Band" experiment. I was pleasantly surprised, although they bring nothing new to the world of music. The song is pretty much similar to any other R&B girl group out there. The video falls along the same lines. Although, I do enjoy it and makes me want to hear what they have to offer in the future.

NELLY FURTADO
"Maneater"
A

Nelly continues her reinvention with this fun and frivolous song. The beat is hot and the lyrics are great. Nelly's voice is what lures you into the song. I love it.
