The Slayer Returns

I have wonderful news for fanatics of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, probably the greatest series to have ever been made! The creator, Joss Whedon, has created a comic book series that would serve as the never-made 8th Season of the show. If you don't remember, the series ended after seven seasons with Buffy's base of operations, Sunnydale, collapsing into the earth after an apocalyptic throwdown with a super-bad known as The First and a hoary host of blood-sucking demons. She had been liberated from her vamp-killing responsibilities, having empowered thousands of girls across the world with Slayer superpowers. For the first time in her life, Buffy knew freedom.

The comic will pick almost immediately after the finale and ties up some loose threads while elaborating more on what the Slayer and the Scooby Gang has been up to all these years. Unfortunately, it seems that Buffy has not gained much freedom, having to deal with more evil forces. In the Buffy spin-off TV series Angel, it was established that the Slayer was living in Italy after the destruction of Sunnydale. The new comic fleshes out her time abroad, since she's out of the country and training a new squadron of Slayers. There will also be some new slayers and we'll find out there are different camps across the world being run by various characters that we will recognize.

I am so excited for this comic book series. I am such a huge fan of this show and can't wait to hear more stories about Buffy and her friends. I just hope that it lives up to the quality of the original series.
