Grammy Nominations Announced

The nominations were actually just announced. So it's time to find out which artists were nominated for what categories. Mary J. Blige tops the nominations with eight, while Red Hot Chili Peppers garner six. James Blunt, the Dixie Chicks, John Mayer, Danger Mouse, Prince, Rick Rubin, will.i.am and John Williams each earn five nods. Beyoncé, Bryan-Michael Cox, Gnarls Barkley, Israel Houghton, T.I and Justin Timberlake receive four each. I will give you a few of my favorite categories, tell you the nominees and who I will be rooting for.

ALBUM OF THE YEAR

Dixie Chicks - Taking the Long Way
Gnarls Barkely - St. Elsewhere
John Mayer - Continuum
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSounds

This one should be obvious. I vote for Justin all the way!

BEST NEW ARTIST

James Blunt
Chris Brown
Imogene Heap
Corrine Bailey Rae
Carrie Underwood

James Blunt definately should win this one for "You're Beautiful" alone.

BEST POP ALBUM

Christina Aguilera- Back to Basics
Justin Timberlake- FutureSex/LoveSounds
Elvis Costello
James Blunt- Back to Bedlam
John Mayer- Continuum

I will be happy with either Christina or Justin winning.

BEST POP PERFORMANCE BY A DUO OR GROUP

The Black Eyed Peas- "My Humps"
Death Cab For Cutie- "I Will Follow You Into The Dark"
The Fray- "Over My Head (Cable Car"
Keane- "Is It Any Wonder?"
The Pussycat Dolls- "Stickwitu"

Wow, I am torn between all 5, although it would be interesting if the Dolls won.

POP COLLABORATION WITH VOCALS

Tony Bennett & Stevie Wonder- "For Once In My Life"
Mary J. Blige & U2- "One"
Sheryl Crow & Sting- "Always On Your Side"
Nelly Furtado & Timbaland- "Promiscuous"
Shakira & Wyclef Jean- "Hips Don't Lie"

I am torn between Nelly and Shakira with a slight edge going to Shakira.

RECORD OF THE YEAR

I'm torn with the first four. Overall I would have to say Mary.

I am torn between Justin and Madonna but I would have to pick Madonna because Justin will get other categories.

Oakenfold- A Lively Mind
Pet Shop Boys- Fundamental
Zero 7- The Garden

BEST ROCK PERFORMANCE BY A DUO OR GROUP WITH VOCAL

The Raconteurs- "Steady, As She Goes"

U2 & Green Day- "The Saints Are Coming"
