Britney Spears is looking to distance herself from the toxic and head into the light. The singer's comeback took a spiritual turn Wednesday, with the recently rehabbed pop princess thanking fans for their prayers and encouraging one and all to look to a higher power in a letter posted on her revamped Website, britneyspears.com.
"The reason for this letter is to let everyone know that their prayers have truly helped me. I am so blessed that you care enough about me to be concerned and will continue to live in this brighter state with all of you by my side during this trying time. We are all the lights of the world and we all need to continually inspire others and look to the higher power. You are all in my prayers. Godspeed. Love, Britney."
The memo is posted alongside a picture of a topless Spears with her arms, clad in elbow-length white gloves, crossed in front of her bare chest. She appears to be wearing a wig, going with a blonde bob and bangs for her come-hither homepage. It evokes the classic pop princess we know and love.
Her little note comes a little more than two weeks after her first live performance in nearly three years, the highly anticipated 15-minute set May 1 at the House of Blues in San Diego. Three more short outings at the House of Blues in Anaheim, West Hollywood and Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay rounded out Spears' mini club tour, giving fans—some of whom paid as much as $500 online for a ticket with a $35 face value—a glimpse of her newly toned physique and, hopefully for generating interest in a new album.
Her last studio release, the incredible In the Zone, dropped in 2003. She is currently at work on a new project, with the first single slated for a September release. I can't wait.
