Rosie O'Donnell's personal rep has confirmed that she is in "preliminary discussions" to permanently join the cast of Nip/Tuck for its fifth season. This confirmation comes after a story this morning reporting that Rosie herself said she has been offered the female lead of the show, since, as the story put it, "Joely Richardson is leaving for a year." However, FX is sticking with its story that Richardson will be back. They are saying that while she is not in the finale, she will return to Nip/Tuck next season.
Obviously, given that Nip/Tuck shoots in Los Angeles and The View is in New York City, it would be impossible for Rosie to do both shows. However, insiders say she's extremely tempted by the offer, since Nip/Tuck is her favorite show on television and she had a blast working on the show as a guest star earlier this season, so she just might abandon Babs and the girls.
I really did enjoy Rosie's Dawn character as she bought some welcome laughs to the sometimes serious show. However, I'm not sure what to expect if we see her on a weekly basis. We may get tired of her. Oh well, I guess we may find out next fall.
